Vishwa Kaushalam Innovation Challenge 2026 is a first-of-its-kind initiative in Coastal Karnataka that brings together traditional artisans, students, researchers and technology innovators to reimagine the future of the Pancha Shilpa and Vishwakarma craft traditions. Organised by Vishwakarma Kala Parishath (R), Mangaluru, with St Aloysius Innovation Foundation as the incubation partner, the challenge runs from November through December 2026 and culminates in a Grand Finale on 26 December at Kudmul Rangarao Town Hall, Mangaluru.

Participants are invited to co-create new products, processes and business models by applying modern tools such as Computer-Aided Design (CAD), 3D printing, CNC machining, Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and design thinking to the real-world challenges faced by traditional craftspeople in the region. The challenge is structured around three themes: Design Innovation, Technology Application and Artisan Entrepreneurship.

The competition follows a multi-stage format. Registration and idea submissions are open from 2 to 30 November 2026. Shortlisted teams will be paired with master artisans during a dedicated artisan-pairing phase in early December, followed by a hands-on workshop immersion and a Prototype Development Boot Camp later in the month. The top 10 teams will present their solutions live to a panel of experts at the Grand Finale on 26 December 2026.

The top three teams will share a cash prize pool of ₹1,00,000. Selected teams will also receive six months of structured mentoring, incubation support at St Aloysius Innovation Foundation, and access to seed and pilot funding — providing a clear pathway from idea to enterprise.

The broader Vishwa Kaushalam 2026 event, scheduled from 25 to 27 December 2026 at Kudmul Rangarao Town Hall, is expected to feature over 100 artisan exhibitions and more than 30 technology stalls, making it a significant gathering for the craft and innovation communities of Mangaluru and Coastal Karnataka.

The challenge is open to all students, innovators, researchers and artisans with no age limit or educational qualification required. Participants may apply individually or in teams of two or three. Shortlisted participants who do not already have an artisan partner will be paired with a master artisan by the organisers.

For registration and further details, interested participants can contact Vishwakarma Kala Parishath (R), Mangaluru, or St Aloysius Innovation Foundation, Mangaluru.
