Introduction
Welcome to MangaloreDiary — Mangalore's trusted local digital news platform. This Privacy Policy explains how MangaloreDiary ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects the information you provide or that we gather when you visit and use our website at mangalorediary.in (the "Platform").
We are an independent news and blog platform based in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. We take your privacy very seriously — not because a law tells us to, but because we believe every person's personal information is their own property and should be treated with respect.
By using MangaloreDiary, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you don't agree with any part of this policy, you are welcome to stop using the Platform. If you have questions at any point, we are always reachable at editor@mangalorediary.in.
This policy applies to all visitors, readers, newsletter subscribers, registered contributors, and advertisers who interact with MangaloreDiary through our website, email communications, social media pages, or any other channel we operate.
What Information We Collect
We only collect information that is genuinely needed to run our platform and serve you better. We do not collect more than we need. Here is a clear breakdown:
👤 Information You Give Us
Name, email address, phone number (optional), and message content when you fill our contact form, subscribe to our newsletter, or register as a contributor.
🖥️ Information Collected Automatically
IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages visited, time spent, referring URL — collected automatically when you visit the site via cookies and analytics tools.
📢 Advertiser Information
If you advertise with us, we collect your business name, contact email, phone number, ad creative, and billing information to manage your campaign.
✍️ Contributor Information
If you register to write for us, we collect your name, email, bio, and the articles you submit. Your public author profile may display your name and bio.
What we do NOT collect: We do not collect your Aadhaar number, PAN, financial account details, passwords, or any sensitive personal data unless it is absolutely necessary for a specific service (like advertising billing) and you have explicitly provided it.
How We Collect Your Information

- Cookies & Browser Storage: Our website uses cookies (small text files stored in your browser) to remember preferences, enable analytics, and serve ads. See Section 6 for full details.

- Google AdSense: We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies to serve ads relevant to your interests. See Section 7 for details.
- Social Media Plugins: If you interact with social sharing buttons on our articles, the respective social media platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp) may collect data as per their own privacy policies.
- WhatsApp/Email Communications: If you contact us directly via email or WhatsApp, we retain that conversation for response and record-keeping purposes.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect strictly for the following purposes — and nothing else:

- To display relevant advertisements: We use Google AdSense to serve ads. Google uses cookies for this purpose. We do not ourselves sell your data to advertisers.
- To detect and prevent spam and abuse: We use IP addresses and form data to identify and block spam submissions, bots, and abusive behaviour.
- To comply with legal obligations: If required by Indian law, court order, or government authority, we may need to disclose certain information. We will always notify you where legally permitted.
In plain language: We use your data to run the website, respond to you, and send newsletters you signed up for. That's it. We do not use your data for profiling, targeting, or selling to third parties.
