SP flags off two state-of-the–art highway patrol vehicles

Madikeri : The District Police Superintendent on Wednesday, February 8, flagged off two new patrol vehicles with state-of-the-art gadgets connected to the modern police control room, in the District Armed Reserve (DAR) premises

Rajendra Prasad told media that the patrol vehicles would be deployed on state highways and cover areas upto Sampaje and provided with all information related to vehicles.

The patrol vehicles are fitted with global positioning system (GPS) connected to the police control room. The location of the vehicle and its proximity to a place of requirement could be assessed from the control room and accordingly the nearest vehicle could be diverted.

These Toyota Innova make vehicles are fitted with search lights, first aid kit, stretcher to carry injured, siren to wade through traffic, megaphone besides a camera.

A driver, an assistant sub-inspector and few staff members will be manning the vehicles to provide security, emergency assistance in case of accidents and also help in curbing illegal activities.

The vehicles will be functioning 24/7 and the people in need can contact Police control room by dialing 100.
