Mangaluru: The state government has remained inconvincible in the matter of ongoing Yettinahole river diversion project and in order to display the strength of people against this project, the Netravati Samrakshana Samyukta Samiti will conduct a three-day march against this project.

The “Pancha Theertha Saptha Kshethra Ratha Yaathre” from December 10 to 12 will cover seven temple towns to pray for divine intervention in the matter. “The procession will begin in Subramanya and cover Dharmasthala, Uppinangady, Polali, Kadri and Bappanadu before ending in Kateel. Political leaders have kept aside their ideological differences and joined hands to fight the project. Support from the public is highly appreciated”, said Netravati Samrakshana Samyukta Samiti President Vijay Kumar Shetty.

“District In-charge Minister Ramanath Rai should assert the cries of people from his district. He should state that he will resign from the party if the project continues. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will surely stop the project if Rai backs out in such a big manner. I have earlier announced that we will get a delegation of 50 thousand people to put pressure on the CM to reinstate Rai back in the cabinet if Rai backs out from this project. Senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary has supported this yaathre as well which is a great boost”, Shetty added.

“This yaathre will not have a political agenda and thus, bearing flags of political parties will not be allowed. Instead, we will all carry Netravati Samithi flag to show solidarity in this matter. Various people’s representatives have received letters from us regarding joining hands against Yettinahole project keeping political differences aside”, said Convenor of the samithi M G Hegde.
