Investigation Directorate finds Rs 4,300 crore undisclosed income in DK, B’luru

Mangaluru/Bengaluru: The Investigation Directorate of the Income Tax Department of Karnataka and Goa regions has come across Rs 4,300 crore undisclosed income from April 1, 2016 to date and the huge sum includes Rs 172 crore found during a search conducted in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on February 1 on individuals, groups, trusts, companies and so on, said B R Balakrishnan, DG of Income Tax (investigation), Karnataka and Goa region.

Addressing the media after inaugurating the new office of Additional Director of Income Tax (investigation) at Pandeshwar in Mangaluru on Monday, Balakrishnan said that Rs 172 crore had been detected on February 1 and that included searches at Puttur, Chikkamagaluru, Karkala, Udupi, Mangaluru and Bengaluru.

He informed that of the 18 lakh people sent notices regarding the high value deposits made post November 8, about 8 lakh had responded and the responses were being verified.
