India’s largest Women Hi-Tech Fish Market inaugurated in Udupi

Udupi: Karnataka State Minister for Fisheries and Youth Affairs Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurated India’s largest women hi tech fish market near Poorna Prajna College in the city on January 14.

The facility is built at a cost of Rs 2.26 crore by a joint venture of the State Fisheries Department and Coastal Development Authority. The new building can accommodate 174 fisher women at a time.

The two floor market facility built on area of 16,000 square feet and has rest rooms, toilets and other facilities. Out of the total 174 counters, 154 have been registered for fresh fish sellers where as four stalls for dry fish sales. Whole sale vendors have 13 counters and remaining three is reserved for others.
