Congress retorts to Nalin Kumar’s controversial statement of setting district on fire

Mangaluru: Following the controversial statement made by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel about “setting Dakshina Kannada on fire”, the Ullal Congress block reacted by lodging a complaint against Nalin Kumar in Konaje Police Station. Several Congress party members came to Konaje in order to detest Nalin’s statement.

On Sunday, January 1 2017, Nalin Kumar Kateel had made a statement saying that he would “set Dakshina Kannada on fire” if the culprits behind the murder of Karthik Raj were not arrested within ten days. The Dakshina Kannada Congress retorted against the statement saying they would douse the fire that Nalin Kumar intended to set.

Hitting back at Nalin’s statement, Youth Congress wing leader Mithun Rai said, “If Nalin Kumar Kateel sets the district on fire, Congress will take the responsibility of dousing it.”

Karthik Raj was killed on October 23, 2016 after he was attacked by unidentified assailants. Karthik was son of former Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat President Umesh Ganiga.

After a complaint against Nalin Kumar Kateel was lodged, Ullal Congress Block President Santhosh Kumar Shetty said that the Member of Parliament should take up the responsibility of protecting the lives of people but instead he was threatening them. Mithun Rai stated a protest would be lodged outside Dakshina Kannada DC Office at 4.30 pm on January 2.
